Every year at SXSW, world-renowned chefs descend upon Austin to share their masterful skills in the kitchen with a small group of SXSW attendees. Called SouthBites Dinners, these special events offer multi-course dining experiences in unforgettable settings.

This year, whether you’re a SXSW registrant or not, you have the opportunity to experience exceptional SouthBites Dinners featuring some of the top culinary minds of the fine dining world.

The James Beard Foundation and SouthBites present A Dinner in Celebration of International Women’s Day in partnership with CARE hosted by PepsiCo Foundation

Location: Eden East, 755 Springdale Rd.
Date: Saturday, March 9
Time: 6:30pm

Featuring chefs Asha Gomez (The Third Space, Atlanta), Antonia Lofaso (DAMA, Los Angeles), and Sonya Coté (Eden East, Austin). A Celebration of International Women’s Day: Join the James Beard Foundation, SXSW, The PepsiCo Foundation, and CARE for an intimate dinner prepared by three acclaimed female chefs in honor of International Women’s Day. The evening will showcase the PepsiCo Foundation’s and CARE’s dedication to empowering women farmers around the world, and the James Beard Foundation’s commitment to supporting women throughout the food industry through their Women’s Leadership Programs.

Tiffany-Derry-Fermin-Nunez-SouthBites

The James Beard Foundation and SouthBites present a Sustainable Dairy Dinner hosted by Dairy MAX

Location: Eden East, 755 Springdale Rd.
Date: Monday, March 11
Time: 6:30pm

Featuring chefs Tiffany Derry (Roots Chicken Shak, Dallas), Fermín Núñez (Suerte, Austin), Sonya Coté (Eden East, Austin), and Amy’s Ice Cream (Austin). A Farm to Table Dinner: Join Dairy MAX, James Beard Foundation, and SXSW for an intimate dinner al fresco at the beautiful Eden East Farm. The evening’s meal will highlight dairy’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship with a four-course menu of dairy-inspired deliciousness.

Carlos-Garcia-Michael-Fojtasek-Justin-Yu-SouthBites

The James Beard Foundation and SouthBites present Social Gastronomy/Waste Not Dinner hosted by Cargill

Location: Eden East, 755 Springdale Rd.
Date: Tuesday, March 12
Time: 6:30pm

Featuring James Beard Award Winning chef Justin Yu (Theodore Rex, Houston), chef Michael Fojtasek (Olamaie, Austin) chef Carlos Garcia (Obra Kitchen Table, Miami), and chef Sonya Coté (Eden East, Austin). A Waste Not Dinner: Join the James Beard Foundation, SXSW, and Cargill for an intimate dinner al fresco at the beautiful Eden East Farm. The evening will showcase creative and delicious ways to reduce food waste, and will highlight the Social Gastronomy Movement, a human centered movement, which uses the power of food and gastronomy to not only eliminate food waste, but also to address social inequality, improve nutrition education, and create local jobs.

Barebones SouthBites Dinner

SouthBites presents an open-fire outdoor dining experience hosted by BAREBONES

Location: Ardor Wood Farm
Shuttle Pick-Up Location: 500 E 4th St, Austin, TX 78701
Date: Friday, March 8 & Saturday, March 9
Time: 5:30pm-10:30pm (including travel times)

Set at Ardor Wood Farm, this intimate ticketed event will be the most unique of the series, featuring classically-trained chefs Jaret Foster and Mona Johnson of Tournant and master mixologist Ryan Manning. Ticket includes shuttle transportation to and from venue (approximately 50 minutes each way).
