The winning teams of the SXSW Hackathon in 2017

The 5th annual SXSW Hackathon is happening March 13-14, bringing together hackers, creators, makers, and coders to converge to solve problems, create new tools, and push the boundaries of existing tech across entertainment media in Music, Film, VR, and blockchain. Teams will be vying for cash prizes and the opportunity to participate in the three-day SXSW Hackathon Incubator with industry mentors following March 15-17.

As the ultimate nod to the importance of innovation at the intersection of technology and entertainment, the Hackathon includes one of the top tech companies in the world (Amazon) sponsoring and sending engineers. Plus with Capitol Records bringing music into the mix and Consensys/ Ujo’s blockchain platform, hackers will have a unique data set to work with.

Our 2018 mentors include Lily Chen (Universal), Gerome Vanherf (Leansquare/ Wallfornia Music Tech), Ty Roberts (Ty Roberts Innovation), Danny Lee (YG Entertainment), Andee Gardiner (Founders Embassy), Dano Leman (Reven8te/Ticket Galaxy) and Louise-Marie Marguet (Emojam).

Hackathon Judges this year are Tuhin Roy (Universal Music), Ryan Walsh (Floodgate), Tiffany Zhong (Gen Z Whisperer), Jay Zalowitz (Hacker Noon), Jeremy Gardner (AUSUM Ventures), Waco Hoover (XLIVE), Jeff Liebenson (Liebenson Law), David Sikorski (Earmilk), Lucy Guo (Scale API) and David Smooke (Hacker Noon & AMI).

This year we proudly welcome USAA as our title sponsor. Other sponsors include ConsenSys, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Alexa, Capitol Music Group and Cloudinary.

Additional partners are Devpost and Hacker Noon.
