SXSWedu, March 6-9, is less than a month away! We are thrilled to announce Brené Brown, Sarah Elizabeth Lewis and Roberto Rivera for the SXSWedu Closing Program. Additionally, the 2017 Learn by Design competition finalists, Launch startup competition emcees and judges and more have all been revealed.

SXSWedu Closing Program on Thursday, March 9

The 2017 SXSWedu Conference & Festival will conclude on Thursday, March 9, with a single stage lineup of dynamic voices. This year’s Closing Program will focus on professional and personal development and the evolution of working roles within education.

Competitions at SXSWedu

Through a number of dynamic competitions, SXSWedu celebrates the impact of those working to create a better tomorrow for all learners. The sixth annual Launch startup event will showcase early-stage education companies with a fast-paced, live pitch competition. While the inaugural Learn by Design competition will focus on the design of physical learning spaces showcasing projects in three distinct categories, conceptual, experiential and physical.

This year’s Launch competition will be emceed by the Executive Director of Professional and Digital Learning for Lufkin ISD, Rafranz Davis and Richard Culatta a leader in innovation and education, and has worked in government, non-profit, and the private sector. Judges include: Aaron Walker (Camelback Ventures), Jess Gartner (Allovue), Corinne Weisgerber (St. Edward’s University), Mark Williams (Austin Community College), Mark Rogers (Meridian World School), Eileen Murphy Buckley (ThinkCERCA) and Darryl Adams (Adams Consulting and Edutainment Services). The Learn by Design competition will be emceed by Co-Executive Director of Big Picture Learning, Carlos Moreno and high school student, Naseem Haamid. Several judges as well as this year’s fifteen finalists, over three categories, have been announced. Learn more about the event and competing projects.
