Design is the key differentiator in the automotive and fashion worlds. Artist and designer A$AP Rocky took the stage at SXSW 2019 along with founder and editor-in-chief of Cool Hunting Josh Rubin and chief design officer at Daimler AG Gorden Wagener to discuss how design applies to their creative endeavors.
As industry leaders working at the top of their respective arts, they collaborate with select groups of highly talented multidisciplinary people to make cutting-edge products that push boundaries, command respect, and garner widespread appeal. The panel expands on the practice of sharing ideas and the importance of being influenced by the things around yourself. When asked about his design principles, A$AP Rocky said:
“I think luxury changes…beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” – A$AP Rocky
Wagener spoke to the importance of designing and creating luxury products with sustainability in mind. The pair expanded on the moral responsibility of brands to create a way to move forward that was still respectful to the environment.
“The future is not written.. You can design it.” – Gorden Wagener
