C O M 2016 SXSW Showcasing Artist Updates SXSW 2016 stunner and Grulke Prize winner Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals announced a tour with dates spreading across the U.S. and Europe. The shows include the Art of Cool Festival in North Carolina, Chicago's Pitchfork Festival and North Sea Jazz in Holland. Hip-hop artist DJ Khaled, who played SXSW 2016's Mass Appeal show along with Nas, attended the White House Correspondent's Dinner last month. Curiously enough, Khaled's "date" to the event was media mogul Arianna Huffington. YouTube kicked off its new 360° VR live streaming service with a performance from SXSW 2016 alumni D∆WN, also known as Dawn Richard. An incredibly talented vocalist, musician and dancer, Richard is also working on new music with production help from fellow SXSW veterans Machinedrum and Kingdom. Berlin chillwave/electro-folk producer and songwriter Niklas Kramer, known as Still Parade, made his North American debut at SXSW 2016. After which, he inked a deal with Lefse for the U.S. release of his upcoming debut album Concrete Vision, available on June 3 (also being released by Heist or Hit) and made Guardian's new band of the week. Festival-goers can catch his rise at both the Isle of Wright and Melt Festivals this summer. No stranger to SXSW, The Parrots made the trip from Madrid to Austin yet again in 2016. The Spanish party-all-the-time garage rockers literally signed a contract at one of their SXSW performances, confirming a new deal with U.K. label Heavenly Recordings. They've since been playing festival spots in the U.K. and continental Europe with upcoming shows at The Great Escape in Brighton and SuperBlock in Lisbon.
