Evaporating Borders | Film 2014 | SXSW

January 30, 2014

Evaporating Borders is a visual essay on displacement and the search for identity. Told through a series of vignettes portraying the lives of migrants on the island of Cyprus, the film explores inequality and essentialized conception of identity. The film's five vignettes act as a prism to reflect a divided society. Migrants are associated with loss of tradition which results in hatred and intolerance. The story is told through a personal exploration of a migrant who contemplates what it means to have a hybrid existence, where one is always in search for identity. Directed by: Iva Radivojevic
